The
School cooperatives (student cooperatives) have been working in Hungary
for more than 25 years. They have been playing an important social
role in the society. Their traditions and functions are significant
on the Hungarian employment market. Similar cooperatives have been
working within the EU as well but their sizes and roles are remarkably
smaller. By the help of Student cooperative's employment the youngsters,'
the college, university and secondary school students' first meeting
of the work regulations and their features are more controlled,. Their
future law-abiding behaviour is formed by the first impressions and
experience of employment. When at their first work contact the youngsters
can acquire the commitment of employment and the obligations of tax
payment, legal employment, they are less likely to go into illegal
work in the future. Furthermore they can gain suitable work experience
and the necessary safeguarding of workers' interest for their first
"adult job".
The appropriate responsibility and the value of the earned money can be formed in this time of age. It often happens among youngsters that the money given to them is easy to spend and the value of money is only appreciated by the difficulty of earning it.
The movement of School cooperatives (student cooperatives) has been recognized by the state and therefore they provide the support of this type of employment. It looks clear that the main occupation of the regular university or college students are their studies and work takes only the second place. As a consequence of this the employer has a more difficult job with employing these youngsters, but this difficulty is solved by the School cooperative and the supportive role of the state.
